Why do semiconductor packaging and testing sorting machines need to use chillers?
In the semiconductor packaging testing process, especially in the temperature control process of the sorting machine (test probe station), the use of chillers is mainly based on the following reasons:
Temperature stability and accuracy: The performance testing of semiconductor devices is extremely sensitive to temperature. Subtle temperature fluctuations will affect the accuracy of test results and the performance evaluation of the device. The chiller provides a stable low-temperature environment to ensure minimal temperature fluctuations during the test process, ensuring the repeatability and accuracy of test data.
Thermal management: During the test process, especially high-power devices will generate a large amount of heat energy when running. The chiller can effectively take away this heat energy to prevent heat accumulation, keep the test equipment and DUT at a safe operating temperature, and avoid thermal stress damage to the equipment. Or affect the test accuracy.
Improve efficiency: The rapid cooling of the chiller can shorten the time for the device to cool to the test temperature and improve the test efficiency. Especially when multiple temperature cycle tests or rapid temperature changes are required, the efficiency of the chiller is more critical.
Protect devices: The chiller avoids large temperature fluctuations that may be caused by direct use of ambient temperature control, and protects sensitive semiconductor devices, especially new semiconductor materials or precision devices that are sensitive to temperature.
Environmental adaptability: The semiconductor testing environment requires constant temperature and humidity. The chiller is not affected by temperature changes in the external environment and can ensure a stable indoor testing environment even in extreme weather.
Extend the service life: By reasonably controlling the temperature, the chiller avoids overheating, expansion and contraction of the equipment, protects the equipment, and extends the service life of the test equipment.
In summary, the application of chillers in temperature control of semiconductor sealing, testing and sorting machines is a key technical means to ensure test accuracy, efficiency, protect equipment, improve product quality and environmental adaptability, and extend equipment life.
